Rescue Nubian

Rescue Nubia is a non-profit organization formed on April, 2007 in Washington DC in response to campaign against the construction of Kajbar Dam in Nubia, north of Sudan. Kajbar dam is looked upon as a threat to the Nubian people, land, culture, and heritage. The overarching goal of the organization is to advocate against the cultural cleansing targeted towards the Nubians and campaign for protection of Nubian people and land, and for preservation of Nubian heritage, culture, and language. This organization thrives to make the voice of the disadvantaged Nubians heard by the international community at large. To realize its goal, Rescue Nubia is placing every effort to accomplish the following:

  1. Educate the public through orchestration of speeches, seminars, workshops, and press conferences.
  2. Articulate to decision makers the urgency of the situation in Nubia and appeal for their intervention to enforce the rights of indigenous people to live in their land and preserve their heritage and culture.
  3. Organize rallies and protests to affirm the unconditional objection of Nubians to construction of dams in their beloved land.
  4. Sponsor fund raising events and obtain charitable donations to support the advocacy activities.
  5. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and specialized groups/agencies/organizations to provide viable alternatives to power generation from hydro-electric dams.

We invite human rights organizations, advocacy groups, community associations, religeous societies, and other organizations to join our Executive Committee and support the Nubian Cause.
